Jane Jacobs, 1916 - 2006

The great urban activist, author and speaker Jane Jacobs passed away today. She was 89.

Jacobs is best know for her seminal work The Death and Life of Great American Cities, required reading on post-war cities in the United States. More recently, she’s written about the threatened decline of civiliation due to disinvestment in science and education, bad governance, and disintegration of communities.
